After a great 1st parade with Musical Directing of Wendell Bara das Olindas and a little trip to Olinda for 2012’s Carnival we are now ready for a true Pernambuco invasion as TWO Musical groups are joining us for both BRAZIL.I.AM PRE CARNIVAL NIGHT and NHC PARADE!
SO OUR GUEST ARTISTS FOR 2012 ARE:
Coco de Praia is a group formed by Pacheco Cantador and Arnaldo do Coco, aiming to transmit the culture of “Samba de Coco” (Coconut samba) in order to enrich the cultural legacy of the city of Olinda and the state of Pernambuco. Showing its roots and joyful musicality, the group has since 2008 transformed “fisherman stories” into the songs released on their first album as part of Olinda’s 2012 Carnival. This will be their UK album launch “Mestres das Artes- Manhas do Mar”. This initiative is supported by Funcultura.
Mestre Santino was born Santino Justino de Souza, a rural worker who started his path in Pernambuco’s traditional culture in 1948, when he was 8 years old. Singing traditional rhythms such as ciranda, he went on tour with the age of 15 years, having his solo debut in 1967. The artist is a reference to younger generations of musicians; also being one of the legends of Nazare da Mata, an area in the countryside of Pernambuco which is fertile in culture. It is with honor that we bring this artist to his 1st Tour abroad. An initiative supported by Funcultura.
MARACATUDO MAFUA BLOCO
With participants from our London classes and students from our partnerships we will have drummers and dancers performing in full colours and glow! BY AUG 1st we will be sending our videos making sure we are all in the same page in regards of the material of music pieces and dance routines for the day of the parade!

*A final rehearsal on saturday with all artists and participants will be inclusive on the fee.
Participants fee:
Flat fee for both drummers and dancers £35 ONLY
The fee includes:
*T-shirt
*Costume ( to wear only)
*Final rehearsal
*Water and snacks during parade
*Public Liability Insurance
