JULY 8 : GIPSY KINGS + LOS LOBOS @kewthemusic


Kew the Music is a sublime summer music experience. For one glorious week, we celebrate world class music with a series of six outdoor picnic concerts set against the backdrop of the magnificent Victorian Temperate House.

Arriba La Cumbia! is back to Hootananny, Brixton this 8th June with a great line up again. Direct from Brightonia POLLITO BOOGALOO, our UK "costeños" favourite band defiantly old school cumbia, classic 60's cumbia, vallenato and puya and mixing in a little dub and Haitian voodoo. Support comes by PHILIPSMAN & LOLO MC, Cuban hip hop blending dancehall and caribbean flavours & LATIN GROUND a mix of cumbia, merengue and salsa hits and choreographed dancers.

Latin Corner celebrates this 8th June the Festival of Andean Music “Mono Nuñez” with live music by special guests Duo Sensación. “Mono Nuñez” Festival began in 1975 and commemorates Benigno Núñez Moya, the musician, interpreter and composer born in Ginebra, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

"Hailed as the 'Diva of the Sudanese Desert' (Journal Du Mali) Sudanese-Italian singer Amira Kheir has been bespelling audiences in Africa and Europe with a sound that is inspired by traditional Sudanese singing and instrumentation, blended with elements of Jazz, Soul, African as well as Middle Eastern music. Amhira will be accompanied by Latin american musicians on stage

The music Tudo de Bom (Everything Good) and Amor Errado (Mistaken Love) became radio hits. The magazine Veja acclaimed Fernanda as the first composer whose electronic rhythms became popular on radio, in addition to having five hits on a première CD.

Raices Cubanas featuring Omar Puente : 8th September, London

 
Boisdale are delighted to present Omar Puente for the first time at Canary Wharf.  He will be performing with Raices Cubanas -an exciting ensemble that blends traditional Cuban sounds with the influences that the musicians have absorbed in working in Europe and alongside European jazz musicians.

This year Club Dada is going to continue  swing, ding and ultimately  explode. They are taking over the Spiegeltent (whose brothers and sisters had  Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich as guests) every night and spin it into the 23rd  Century. From Electro Swing (1920-1950s remixed), Bestival was the first  festival in the world to have a venue based around the  Vintage Remix. Sat  is  jumping brassed up Ska and booming festival brass with legends The Top Cats  ; and finishing on sunday with night of mashed up Ancient Latin Cumbia, ripped  up , remixed and rewound. A perfect Festival venue.

Calle 13 : 8th July, London

Since they revolutionized Urban Latino music five years ago with their breakthrough debut album, Calle 13 has always spoken to their fans loudly and clearly. Whether it was a dare to become a street-fighter, a shocking spin through a tango of sin, or call to the downtrodden to stand up for their rights, the game was the same. Calle 13 will be at Hackney Empire this 8th July alongside with special support by Wara + Dj Quantic + Movimientos Dj's (Cal Jader & Arias)

The Gipsy Kings have had a vibrant and unique presence in the World Music charts for almost 25 years. Since the release of their international hit single Bamboleo the French superstars have sold over 15 million albums worldwide and had their music featured in Hollywood blockbuster films. An exciting live act, join them at Kenwood to enjoy their energetic Rumba-Flamenco Latin grooves.

Mano de Dios @ Playboy Club London

The story is being written. Come and be a part of it. There’s been a celebration in Cazalla and a hiatus in Hamburg. In the last months, Mano de Dios have been everywhere from Bangladesh to Cartagena and now back in London will be in the famous Playboy Club on wednesday this June.
