Leading Venezuelan composer Ricardo Lorenz presents a pre-concert talk on Latin American classical music entitled Latin America's Art Music: a Simultaneous Expression of Reverence and Irreverence towards the West to accompany 'A Revolutionary Concert', also taking place at the Purcell Room on 3rd May at 7.45pm. Ricardo Lorenz is Associate Professor of Music Composition at Michigan State University and Former Interim-Director of the Indiana University Latin American Music Center. Also one of the world's foremost thinkers in the field of Latin American classical music, he is author of the seminal work Voices in Limbo: Identity, Representation, and Realities of Latin American Composers.
