CONCERT | MAJAGUA : 21 SEPT. @StEthelburgas

 
Featuring singer-guitarist Martha Acosta, Claudia Silva on vocals and Sax, Camilo Menjura Guitar Charango Cuatro and vocals and Carlos Fuentes on percussion.  Majagua is the only London-based Folk ensemble with the mission statement to represent the array of exciting and complex rhythms from all of the Latin American countries. With elecrifying four part harmonies and an array of remarkably well play traditional intruments making beautiful, meaningful, emotional and expressive music.

Afro-Colombia Week : 21 - 24 May @ New Latin Corner, London

An integral ingredient to the formation of Colombian culture, we will be delving into the gastronomic, musical and cultural vestiges of Africa in the South American nation from Mon 21-Thu 24 May in tribute to 'Día de la Afrocolombianidad'.

Muévete's Cal Jader and Deejay Arias continue the year in style hosting a residents special on this always jumping, always rammed tropical themed Saturday night at the Arts Club. This month they help continue a huge day of live music at the Arts Club by introducing a live set from roots-reggae rockers Babilondon.

Special 25th anniversary show for Roberto Pla, the indisputable guvnor of Latin Music in the UK. Roberto formed his first beat combo in London a quarter of a century ago and tonight, aided by a stellar big band, he is going to party like its 1987.

Juan Diego Flórez Residency : 21 April / 2013

For the opening event in his Barbican residency, Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez invites some of his closest musical friends and collaborators to join him for a celebratory concert accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra. Joining one of the most luxurious, fresh and heartfelt tenor voices around is the gregarious mezzo Joyce DiDonato and the rousing, marshalling discipline of opera specialist conductor Karel Mark Chichon. Flórez’s residency is destined to start in style with this tantalizing and star-studded opening concert.

An open space for musicians into Latin Music to join the band on stage. There is always a welcoming crowd of people eager to listen and dance.

Mardis Gras (New Orleans) Carnival : 21 Feb @ The Latin Corner


To Celebrate New Orleans Carnival "Mardis Gras", The Latin Corner will present a live show with Silk Street Jazz.   Famed for its carnival, music and mixed culture , this city is said to have the same feel to it as Barranquilla by Carlos Vives and many people from Colombia who visited this lovely place. Martin Alvarado - "Así es mi tango" UK Tour : 21 & 26 November, London


Argentinian tango singer Martin Alvarado, one of the best of his generation returns to give several shows to England, after his work with Vincent and Flavia's "Midnight Tango", during his 20 th European solo tour which will also include performances and master classes in Spain, Finland and Russia.

Our friends of Movimientos continue their groundbreaking mix of documentary film, DJs and live music at Dalston’s finest music venue. London’s finest Salsa, Boogaloo and Latin Funk outfit Manteca make their debut at Passing Clouds plus Guest DJ Ion Din Anina from Sevilla adds some Tropical bass into the mix. Udigrudi continue their residency hosting the upstairs bar with the funky mix of Brazilian beats, Tropicalia, Reggae and Funk.

 FUERZA LONDON FESTIVAL

During the months of May and June, London will host some of the finest Latin artists from Spain, Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Colombia, amongst them multi-Grammy award winner Fito Paez, Spanish legendary rock band Hombres G, debut shows by Los Pericos, Bersuit and Andres Cepeda, a rare show by Mexico's Natalia Lafourcade, gypsy kings Los Delinqüentes with special guest Tomasito, Venezuela's tropical fusion band Bacalao Men, Mexico's hardcore rockers Molotov and Cuba's newest star Domingo Candelario amongst a series of DJ set and special after-show parties.
