Against the backdrop of the recent bicentennial celebrations of Latin American Independence, the Latin Chamber Orchestra takes you on a kaleidoscopic journey of discovery through the history of Latin classical music, from imagined Aztec rhythms, to the sacred jungle music of the Jesuits, and the exuberant Modernism of Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla and beyond. Meet the opera stars Christopher Columbus, Simón Bolívar and Che Guevara in a dazzling programme with influences ranging from Mexican corridos to Argentine tango and Cuban son, including a world premiere by acclaimed Venezuelan composer, Ricardo Lorenz, for pots, pans, megaphone and audience participation! Plus, in another break with tradition, bring your drink into the concert to really get into the revolutionary spirit of the evening and enjoy world-class performances from the UK's foremost classical Latin musicians and vocalists, including special guest Omar Puente.
