Tradicional Cubano Trio was formed back in 2007 by Cuban flautist Jose Zalba-Smith and since then it had brought Cuban traditional music to a multitude of venues across the UK including the National Theatre, St James Piccadilly, and Arts Depot in London , Thorpness Theatre and Aldeburgh Festival in Suffolk . Its instrumental combination (flute, double bass and congas/percussion) brings to life the most vibrant and iconic musical sounds from this wonderful Caribbean island. The Trio is deeply rooted in Cuban Traditional Music. Jose, being the son of Javier Zalba former member of Irakere, Cubanismo and the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra is strongly committed to continue his father's legacy. Javier Zalba has strong links to the Trio and has performed with the group on several occasions. Inspired by many composers such as Miguel Matamoros, Eduardo Sanchez de Fuentes, Sindo Garay, Benny More and many more, Jose, Mercedes and Alex have arranged their own music and enjoy fantastic feedback from listeners.
