Molotov Jukebox + Mano de Dios + Flamexicano : 24 February

Rodrigo &Gabriela official after party with Movimientos Dj's + Mano de Dios, Flamexicano and Molotov Jukebox. The line up is a hot one, as Molotov Jukebox headline the live room. After a visit to Jamm last year, we cannot wait for their next performance and witness their infectious 'Gyp-Step' sound rocking the venue once again.

This band are one of the hottest bands currently pushing their way to the top of the UK scene, with their sound that blends diverse influences from gypsy to funk and dubstep to punk. With the incredibly talented actress of Harry Potter and About a Boy fame, singer and accordionist Natalia Tena at the forefront of five excellent musicians, they have the presence and performance that is gaining critical acclaim and fan base alike.

With some of the capitals best venues and UKs favourite festivals on the bands CV, which include Cargo, Scala and Ronnie Scott's, plus Glastonbury, Big Chill, Lovebox, T In The Park and Secret Garden Party, they have developed an infectious and encapsulating live set, which is definitely something to behold.

In addition the live room will feature two great UK based latin infused bands in Mano De Dios and Flamexicano.

Mano De Dios boast members of Spanish, Cuban and English provenance and their forte is a vivacious, irresistible strain of flamenco-hued Latin party music that suggests an edgier, more attitudinal take on the Gypsy Kings. Their trump card is Spanish singer/guitarist Jackson Scott, whose prodigious songwriting talents incorporate punk, rumba and samba tropes while never straying far from good old rock 'n' roll.

“There is a dark theatrical edge to the music we play inspired by the romanticised violence and bathos in Mexican popular culture - a strong element of what we call ‘Trash Noir’.”
FLAMEXICANO! was formed by Papa Tigre. ‘Papa’ conjured magical melodies for Mae West, Tony Visconti, Michelle Phillips, Georgio Moroder and Agnetha Faltskog. He tickled the musical fancies of Bowie and Bolan and - fronti...ng his legendary flamenco/rock band ‘Carmen’ - toured with numerous bands, from Santana, Jethro Tull and ELO, to the Blue Oyster Cult.

From his mother’s Mexican ‘zoot suit’ ghetto roots to the Welsh explorers and artists on his fathers side, ‘Papa’s’ life is - and continues to be - theatrical and extraordinary.

Now, after gathering together the most passionate and powerful musicians he could find, ‘Papa Tigre’ presents FLAMEXICANO! - a high-kickin' musical mash-up with a flamenco/latin heart . . . imagine Sergio Leone meets Nine Inch Nails and a drunken Mariachi band.

With thunderous beats from Pablo Parrachino, Manos Felice’s expressive conga rhythms, Devid Dell’Aiera’s snake-hipped double bass lines, beautiful melodies from the magnificent Charlotte’s surf violin and sweet French accordion - all fronted by ‘Papa Tigre’s’ intricate guitar and brutal, soaring vocals . . . they rock hard!!!

FLAMEXICANO! ( ‘the artists formerly known as Widescreen’) have supported the Buena Vista Social Club, Eliades Ochoa and Ojos de Brujo - as well as playing regularly on the UK festival circuit.
The live performances are an impressive mix of the well rehearsed and the devilishly improvised.

With Movimientos DJs taking the live room through until dawn and Needle and Thread with their special guests and host Mr Hovis running things in the front room, this night is going to full of latin vibes and rock n roll attitude. Something you really shouldn't miss.
