Courtney Pine's Europa project, currently on tour, is a typically ambitious musical travelogue in which he and a strong lineup (including violinist Omar Puente (Cuba), clarinetist Shabaka Hutchings and pianist Zoe Rahman) apply their jazz sensibilities to European folk idioms, stretching from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean and beyond.
