Combining musicians from the original Buena Vista Social Club album with new generation Cuban musicians the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club is fêted by the UK press for “taking the atmosphere up to a breathless level” (The Independent), and leaving audiences “awestruck” (Financial Times). They are joined for this show by the only woman in Buena Vista Social Club, the legendary Cuban diva Omara Portuondo. This remarkable group of musical giants make an eagerly awaited return to the UK in this one-off show for Kew.

Each of these artists has his or her own take on a wide range of Cuban music styles and has put an individual stamp on son montunos, danzón, cha cha cha, boleros, and Cuban jazz.

Chucho Valdés and Omara Portuondo

Chucho Valdés is the most celebrated Cuban jazz pianist today, and he, Omara and their special band perform songs from their brand new recording together. Both of these artistic legends enjoy triumphant careers and are two of the finest ambassadors for Cuban culture around the world.
