¡VAMOS! is a festival that celebrates Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures in NewcastleGateshead, UK. The ¡VAMOS! Picnic returns and for the first time sets up home in the hidden gem that is Summerhill Square Bowling Club. If you’ve never come across it before then you’re in for a treat! There will be live music from Afro-Andean group Lokandes as well as youth ensembles The Third Estate and The Sage Gateshead’s Brassy B.
There will also be food stalls serving Latin American cuisine, face painting and stalls!
VAMOS! combines cuisine, art, film, theatre, dance, music, literature, fashion, sport and education. It offers an international festival appealing to artists, partners and mainstream audiences that is unconstrained by art form, age-group or regional location.
The festival returns this year for it's 7th edition from 1st June-15th July for 6 weeks.

The official launch on 1st June at Newcastle University with Cuban violinist Omar Puente, Colombian group Los Independientes del Vallenato, DJ Mauricio Reyes, dance classes and a retrospective exhibition of photography from ¡VAMOS! Festival 2006-11!
UK premiere and only UK showing of Complicidades: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at The Bowes Museum County Durham - with a special Mexican Fiesta event on 16th June.
2nd June: Peña Flamenca II at Dance City brings back a full day of workshops for all ages, performances and a night-time programme in the theatre space!
7th July: Major outdoor carnival commission Keep Your Hat On with musician Arto Lindsay on the River Wear in Durham in collaboration with Brass: Durham International Festival.
Commissions with Latin American artists; Venezuelan artist Jaime Gili responding to Tynemouth Station, North Tyneside on 13th June and Peruvian Ximena Garrido-Lecca on 22nd June at mima, Middlesbrough as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
30th June: The Stand hosts an afternoon terrace party after the Tyne Carnival, followed by a very special late night Latin party with Cuban musician Domingo Candelario plus Rumba NE and Burundanga!
9th June: a brand new location for ¡VAMOS! outdoor Picnic at Summerhill Bowling Club with Afro-Andean group Lokandes and guests!
On 12th June: UK Premiere of Peruvian docu-photography exhibition by collective Supayfotos at The Biscuit Factory.
24th June: UK Premiere of Heleno, a big budget film about the 1940s Brazilian football star.
Return of the Tyne Carnival where members of the public can join in with music, dance and procession along Northumberland Street, Newcastle on Saturday 30th June.
27th June: The European Premiere of El Inca, la Boba y el Hijo de Ladron, a road movie presenting an innovative reflection on contemporary Peru.
