WARA are one of the most exciting new acts to emerge from the London scene. Nine passionate musicians playing a tight fusion of Cuban timba and salsa with Soul, Funk, Afro-Cuban grooves, Latin rhythms, Dubstep… Layered with contagious, in-your-face vocals from Congolese-Argentinean lead Juanita Euka (niece of the legendary Congolese musician Franco), with Eliane Correa behi...nd the keyboard and Murmur on the rhymes, the dancing never stops.
Their debut EP ‘Somewhereland’ was released last year and their new EP ‘Flesh and Bone / Pretty Cliche’ launches Movimientos Records and signals a whole new level of quality. See Releases for more information.
"Wara is a group and a sound that could only exist in London in 2011. They pay their respects to Cuba and the great history of that musical diaspora but they have earned their musical chops and their lyrical concerns and their overall sound and feel is something completely of the here and now. Wonderful."
