Samara” is a six piece jazz/latin group which I lead, and suffice it to say, I think the guys in the band are just great! Also special featuring with brazilian voice Jandira Silva this 29th July at 606 Club, London.
The pianist, Neil Angilley works with Vanessa Mae, Shirley Bassey and “Down to the Bone”, Dill Katz, the bass player is visiting professor at the Guildhall, Nic France the drummer has worked with just about everyone, including Dave Gilmore (Pink Floyd) and Bill Withers, the percussionist, Dawson Miller is generally recognised as one of the most versatile and experienced players on the scene, and the singer Jandira Silva, who includes work with iconic Brazilian musician Chico Chagas and is considered to be one of the finest Brazilian singers currently working in Europe. The music is an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, jazz/latin and Soul, and we all have a great time!
“Cracking Latin-jazz quintet led by 606 proprietor Steve Rubie on flute and alto saxophone…explores these Latin jazz classics in great rhythmic style” Time Out
Born in Rio de Janiero, Jandira is a highly talented singer whose voice conveys the power of popular Brazilian music. Singing professionally since 1997, her search for wider artistic horizons have taken her from Brazil to Lisbon where she became the resident vocalist at the Casino do Estoril. Now living in London she performs a wonderful selection of rhythmic, enchanting and seductive songs.
