Ana Silvera : 2-4 Feb. / 2011 @ Roundhouse

The Roundhouse welcomes songstress Ana Silvera for Oracles, a specially commissioned performance featuring the Roundhouse Experimental Choir.

‘Sensational’ BBC Radio 3

‘A major talent in the offing’ MusicNews

Based upon the arc of fairy tales, Oracles begins with a deep loss, an exile, which through the slow, difficult action of love resolves into acceptance.

Silvera’s rich, melodic songs are inspired by and draw upon her own eventful life, as well as referencing mythical and historical tales for her lively narratives. A London-born multi-instrumentalist, she has just released her debut single Hometown to critical acclaim.

The Roundhouse concerts mark the latest achievement in a promising career. Described by Roundhouse Director Marcus Davey as ‘one of Britain’s outstanding singer songwriters’, Silvera garnered international praise for her concert at London’s prestigious Purcell Room and her performance on BBC Radio 3. She has recently collaborated in New York with Maxim Moston (Antony and the Johnsons, Rufus Wainwright) and in London with Ray Singer (Peter Sarstedt, Joan Armatrading). As part of the Roundhouse concerts, Silvera joins forces with composer Alex Curtis.
An alumni of the Royal College of Music, composer/arranger Curtis is currently working on a collection of distinctive compositions for his jazz quartet.
